Dr Anthony Yung qualified at the University of Otago in Dunedin in 1991. He then worked at Waikato Hospital as a house officer, medical registrar and as an advanced trainee in internal medicine before undertaking specialist training in dermatology. He subsequently undertook further postgraduate training in dermatology at Auckland before moving abroad to further his specialist training. From October 2000 to March 2006 he undertook further post graduate specialist dermatological training at the Leeds General Infirmary (United Kingdom) in general dermatology, acne treatment, paediatric dermatology, patch testing, phototherapy, dermatopathology, laser treatment and dermatological surgery. He has worked with some of the United Kingdom's foremost experts in their field, for example, Professor William J. Cunliffe (acne), Professor Julia Newton-Bishop (melanoma) and Dr Mark Goodfield (Systemic lupus erythematosus and connective tissue disorders) to name a few. He has gained considerable clinical experience through working extensively throughout the Yorkshire region at both teaching hospitals (Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Teaching Hospital) and district general hospitals (York District Hospital, Harrogate District Hospital, Wakefield District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary) and has attended numerous courses and conferences internationally. He completed his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2002. During this period in the United Kingdom he also completed the requirements for specialist training in dermatology in the United Kingdom (Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training or ‘CCST’) in July 2005. His interests include treatment of common skin disorders (such as eczema, psoriasis, acne), unusual and rare rashes, all types of skin cancers, paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, patch testing and dermatological surgery.
