Male pattern alopecia

Outline the clinical features

Male pattern alopecia is triggered by androgens and starts in the late teens. The pattern and severity depends on genetic predisposition. There is a symmetrical recession of the temporal hair and balding at the vertex. Terminal hairs are slowly converted into finer, shorter vellus hairs.
