Authorship Agreement

Authorship confers credit and implies responsibility and accountability for published work. As DermNet aims to follow the established international guidelines and recommendations in the medical publishing field, it considers authorship credit to be based on:

1. Substantial contributions to work;
2. Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
3. Review of the final published version;
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

Meeting the above points designates the person as an author, and credit should be given as such.

In-house editorial changes may be made to keep content in-line with usual style. Text may be put through plagiarism software.

By submitting content to Dermnet you declare that the manuscript submitted to DermNet for publication is original and that, as author or coauthors, hold the entire and exclusive copyright of the material. The work has not been published before and does not contain plagiarism; that is, all ideas and words taken from others are clearly marked and referenced. You also declare that if any items within this submission are copyrighted, including images, tables, or additional media, you have sought and received permission to use those items for this purpose. (NB Any images that identify a patient need to have a signed patient consent form.)

You grant to DermNet a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, or modify the work in its entirety or portions thereof on the DermNet website, in its electronic and paper archives, or in any collection of DermNet's works in any form whatsoever.

You agree that you shall not release the work to any other publication in the same or substantially similar form, without prior written and explicit consent from the DermNet.

This agreement shall become effective and binding at the date of formal acceptance of the work for publication by DermNet.
