Neo Sekgoma

Bio

Dr. Neo Sekgoma is a specialist dermatologist whose career reflects a strong commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and advocacy. She completed her undergraduate medical training (BMedSci and MBBS) at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago, before pursuing specialist training in Dermatology at the University of Pretoria, where she obtained her MMed in Dermatology. She further earned Fellowship of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2021. With nearly five years of experience as a dermatologist, including almost four years in public service, she now practices full-time in private care as founder and lead dermatologist at Dermatome Skin Clinic in Gaborone, Botswana. Her clinical interests include medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and aesthetic medicine, where she is currently pursuing further qualifications through a diploma in aesthetic medicine.

Beyond the consulting room, Dr. Sekgoma is a passionate advocate for skin health awareness and community education. She has actively participated in campaigns and outreach initiatives across Botswana focused on albinism, vitiligo, acne, eczema, and skin cancer prevention. Through these initiatives, she works to reduce stigma, encourage early diagnosis, and improve access to quality dermatologic care. She is particularly committed to empowering patients with knowledge and ensuring that skin conditions, which are often misunderstood or overlooked, receive the attention they deserve.

Dr. Sekgoma also uses her social media platforms as an educational space to raise awareness about common skin diseases, dispel myths, and share trusted skincare information with the public. In addition, she is deeply committed to advancing dermatology research in Botswana, recognizing the need for more locally relevant data and scientific publications that reflect African populations. Her vision is to contribute meaningfully to the growth of dermatology in the region through innovation, research, and advocacy.
