Tinea faciei

Trichophyton rubrum

Tinea faciei, or dermatophyte infection of the face, is uncommon. It may be due to zoophilic fungus (e.g. M. canis) or anthropophilic organisms (e.g. T rubrum). It may present as kerion, erythematous plaques, or a pustular eruption resembling rosacea.

Treatment may be topical imidazole for mild tinea faciei, or oral terbinafine or an azole for extensive infection.
