Contact dermatitis

Contact allergy to a component of adhesive tape or spray e.g. flexible collodion (most likely allergen is colophony), antiseptic (iodine, chlorhexidine), or resin.

Patch testing performed by a specialist dermatologist, using the European standard battery, other relevant allergens, and specific materials used on the patient.

Potent or ultrapotent topical steroid ointment for several weeks, and avoidance of contact with the responsible material lifelong.
