A 56-year-old woman presents with a blotchy purple discolouration affecting her hands and forearms. She says the marks have become increasingly noticeable over the last five years and are caused by minor injuries. She also has skin fragility. Apart from longstanding atopic dermatitis, she denies any other medical problems.
