What is the likely nature of the lesions?
These lesions are syringomas, a proliferation of benign sweat duct tumours. They appear at puberty and are most often found on the eyelids, although they may also appear elsewhere on the face, neck or trunk. They need to be distinguished from xanthelasma (yellower colour, and usually larger) and trichoepitheliomas (more frequently seen around the nose). Histology is characteristic with small "comma-like" extensions of epithelial cells arising from sweat ducts.
Advise on treatment.
Syringomas are dermal tumours and are not easy to remove. They can be destroyed by accurate electrocautery or laser surgery. They may regrow but treatment can be repeated.
