Hyperhidrosis with irritant contact dermatitis
What is this skin problem?
The state of this patient's T-shirt reveals that he suffers from axillary hyperhidrosis. Occlusion, rubbing and the salty nature of eccrine sweat has resulted in irritant contact dermatitis. Keeping cool, use of antiperspirants and mild topical steroids should help.
Axillary hyperhidrosis may also be treated by tap water iontopheresis or most successfully, by botulinum toxin injections.
