What is the diagnosis?
Necrobiosis lipoidica
What are the clinical features of this condition?
Necrobiosis lipoidica presents on the anterior shin(s) as large irregular brownish-yellow plaques. Close inspection often reveals central atrophy and telangiectasia. Ulceration is unusual.
About 50% arise in patients with known type 1 diabetes mellitus. However, control of the diabetes does not affect the severity of the necrobiosis.
