What is the diagnosis?
Ulcerated skin cancer, most likely basal cell carcinoma.
What are the clinical features of this condition?
The 25-mm ulcer has an irregular border and arises within a purplish plaque. The history of slow growth over weeks to months is typical of basal cell carcinoma, which was confirmed on biopsy.
How would you manage it?
The lesion should be excised with a margin around the purplish plaque of several millimetres. Repair will require skin grafting.
