What treatments are available?
There is no entirely satisfactory treatment. The following may be useful: intralesional steroids, cryotherapy, localized pressure, silicone gel applications, excision followed by radiotherapy, pulse dye laser.
She requests excision of a benign pigmented naevus from her chest. What advice should she be given?
Surgical procedures should be avoided where possible, as further keloid formation is likely. The advice of a plastic surgeon should be sought.
