What is the cause of the lesions?
A hypersensitivity reaction to insect bites, probably mosquitoes. Exuberant reaction to insect bites is a common complication of a foreign vacation before the development of immunity to local arthropods.
What treatment should be recommended?
Topical steroid cream, with antibiotic if the lesions are clinically secondarily infected. Blisters are better left intact, but uncomfortably larges ones could be drained without deroofing
How can she prevent more lesions occurring?
She should wear fully covering clothing when outdoors. The clothing can be treated with permethrin. Use insect repellents containing DEET on exposed skin every two or three hours. Close bedroom windows and spray pyrethroid pesticide at bedtime.
