Elastosis perforans serpiginosum
How would you treat it?
A teenager presented with a partial annular keratotic plaque. It is an uncommon perforating disorder due to abnormal connective tissue, called elastosis perforans serpiginosum (EPS). EPS may be sporadic or inherited. It sometimes affects individuals with Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or Down syndrome. One or more ring-shaped scaly plaques appear on the neck or forearm.
EPS can often be removed by cryotherapy but a white mark may persist long-term.
