Blue rubber bleb naevus

Venous malformations present as skin coloured or blue vascular birthmarks. They are present at birth and grow in proportion to the child's general growth. The blue rubber bleb naevus syndrome is a rare inherited tendency to form multiple compressible, rubbery, blue nodules. Similar lesions in the gastrointestinal tract may bleed resulting in anaemia or sudden death.
