Lymphatic malformation

Lymphatic malformations may present as the incorrectly-named lymphangioma circumscriptum, deeper cavernous lymphangioma or cystic hygroma. They are characterised by the presence of lymph, generally as a clear fluid but sometimes tinged pink or even dark red or black. Superficial lesions resemble frogspawn, and are most commonly found on the shoulders, neck or tongue.
