What underlying systemic disease(s) or condition is it caused by?
The observation of purpuric macules led to concern about thrombocytopenia. Blood count revealed pancytopaenia due to acute myeloid leukaemia.
Thrombocytopaenic purpura presents with petechiae, ecchymosis, bleeding gums and a bleeding tendency, in contrast to vasculitic purpura in which bleeding and ecchymoses are absent.
